Alzheimer’s Disease Training Classes
Selectively trained members of Associated Home Care’s staff have been certified by the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts to provide twelve hours of specialized training to our home health aides in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. The focus of this nationally recognized training is to maximize functional independence and morale by connecting with emotions and establishing a sense of self-worth in the client. Using this same curriculum, Associated Home Care has created another training program specifically to support families who have a family member diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. This program provides techniques to optimize the quality of time spent with the loved one, as well as ways to care for themselves and other family members during this stressful period.
Home Health Aides Training
Associated Home Care provides a 75-hour Home Health Aide training program for select individuals qualifying for employment. This program, which complies with state and federal regulations, provides the information and hands-on skills necessary to provide quality care for clients at home. The training is conducted at a licensed training facility. Students will learn:
- Basic nursing care in a home environment
- Hands-on personal care skills like bathing, dressing and transferring
- Housekeeping skills
- Time management skills
- Communication skills
Once a student is employed by Associated Home Care as a HHA, they are required to participate in on-going education programs.
